Commitment to children and young people

We care about the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

We know that there are many wonderful individuals and organisations that protect, educate, support and care for children and young people in ways that they need and that they deserve.

We are committed and passionate about supporting these individuals and organisations to continuously improve their services, programs, facilities and activities so that children and young people feel safe, are safe, and are able to thrive and reach their full potential.

Commitment to other vulnerable people

We also care about the health, safety and wellbeing of other vulnerable people. These people include:

  • people with disabilities
  • people requiring support with their mental health and wellbeing
  • people with drug or alcohol dependence
  • older people
  • victims and survivors of family violence
  • victims and survivors of sexual abuse
  • homeless persons and those at risk of homelessness.

We refer to these people as ‘vulnerable people’ because numerous inquiries, inquests and royal commissions have found that we all need to do better to provide for their health, safety and wellbeing.

We are committed and passionate about supporting individuals and organisations to learn from these findings, and to continuously improve the services, programs, facilities and activities that they provide to these people in our community.

  • develop and implement strategies to reduce incidents of abuse, neglect, harm, violence, exploitation, grooming, bullying, discrimination, racism and harassment of children, young people and other vulnerable people; and
  • appropriately investigate and respond to these incidents if they occur.
